We recommend as a matter of urgency that you upgrade your version from PHP 5.2 to 5.5 ahead of the proposed changes in order to be secure in the knowledge that your website continues to work as efficiently as it does now.
The benefits of upgrading to PHP 5.5 are:
The upgrade to PHP version 5.5 provides security and feature patches and improvements. Older versions are no longer supported by the IT community. Therefore by using the newer version, regular updates will be available for Claranet to deploy.
Updating your PHP can be completed through the customer control panel found at https://admin.clarahost.co.uk when you are logged in click on your hosting package under the “Hosting” title:
Under the “WEB” tab in the table for your web space, there will be a drop down box for the different versions of PHP. From here, please choose version 5.5 and click the submit button and this will change your version to 5.5.
Once upgraded, if you are experiencing service issues with your website, you can move your site back to the PHP version 5.2 in the interim giving you additional time to amend your website so that it is compatible with PHP version 5.5.
